Summary

Documents can have their family relationship applied, providing both a metadata via the Parent ID field and visual indicator of the grouping within the Doc. Name field.

We've set out below how the family relationship would appear on the platform and how it should be applied.

More information on how to populate the load file can be found here

Relationship Appearance

If the family relationship is applied correctly, the parent document at the top of the family should appear as normal and the children document(s) placed directly underneath the parent should appear indented and italicised.

Family relationships can only include one tier of indentation / italics. If you have multiple tiers of family, i.e. grandparents, parents, children etc, the Solution Operations team can advise on a practical solution for including the information as standard metadata.

Applying the Relationship

  1. Parent ID Field - The Parent ID field is a functional metadata field that should be populated with a common ID value ensuring the following:
    1. ID Value - The value applied should be the Document ID of the parent and be applied to both the parent and children documents. If no Document ID value exists, Bundle_Tab can be used, i.e. D_2.
    2. Family Order - The parent needs to be placed at the top of the family to appear normally, with the children needing to be directly below the parent to appear indented and italicised.
